Hello and happy monday! Today we had farrier breaking our afternoon routine doing the girls and Mini's feet and they were such stars all of them! Temperament is just everything, makes the daily positive to be around kind collaborative animals.

And our yearly stork has arrived, he and his girlfriend always arrives just before the foals are landing. Pica has her due date tomorrow but she is not ready yet, have to wait alittle longer.

Video release of 3 year ols girls Viva and Judith, my sweet girlies! Question is, breed them this year or ride them and wait for the next,.. Still deciding. When I see them move my breeding instinct set in. But I have so many horses now I should really sell before I breed any more. Anyways that's what my head tells me  I am not the breeder that throws their animals on the mountainside and leaves them there to grow up best they can to eat what they can find. Mine are rugs on rugs off, hand fed twice a day with a varied menu, regular manicure and inside when the weather is alittle uncomfy. And that's why I don't have a bigger heard!

In the middle of another cuarantene week, I am not going to talk about the tragedies here in Spain, just going to say I feel for everyone that are suffering and their families. This virus is a very sad story for so many. I talk to my friend who is a nurse and I stand in awe of what a superwoman she is to keep the spirits up and keep going under these hard conditions,...

Meanwhile back at the ranch we are celebrating birthdays today! Hidalgo VIK 4 years and Viva VIK 3 years!

Regards our work the international non-EU transportations of horses are working under normal conditions, horses are being shipped as normal to USA and anywhere outside EU. I have decided to lower the prices of my sales horses to EU clients to compensate the inconvenience as they now has to wait until the shipping is possible again. As I have the same prices for everyone these new prices also applies for other countries outside EU now during the Corona-times. Also to mention, I as the owner/seller will take on full cost of boarding until shipping is possible.

Roads are very controlled and the other day the police stopped us and demanded we should go and feed the horses only once a week. I'm sorry how ignorant!!??!! The police officer did not seem to have much common knowledge to reason with so I went straight to the police office and asked how we could best inform then regards the needs of the horses daily needs. Next in line (outside the office of course maintaining distance) was a 60 year old farmer in tears because they had just given him a fine being on his way to feed his dogs on his own farm. It was upsetting, with all the documentation he still got the fine and it was not small. I said we have enough stress from this situation to also be hunted down on the streets to care for our animals. The guardia civil did want to find a solution this situation they were responsable for, so my vet adviced me to contact ANCCE to have them issue a authorization for my studfarm, they kindly issued a certificate stating I am the owner and have the right to care for my horses as I organize. We need to collaborate, and yes people need to take responsability for this situation and stay in cuarantene if they don't necessarily need to move so us that need to move can do so without being harassed. I am trying to find a way to get food delivered to my home from the supermarket but this is not an easy procedure, I am stuck in a queue!

Here a pic from one of my security cameras yesterday, it was a snowy day but today its all gone and sun is out again so we are back to a normal day. Take care everyone until soon, ciaoo!

Here she is VIVA VIK, our most special girl, a sweet and smart palomina with the longest ears and swift legs. Viva is classy with a high energy and movements with capacity to do Grand Prix dressage. She is a very confident girl and the leader of the herd. She is made on her mums iniciative 100% as she jumped the fence and made her boyfriend Tino jump it also, as Chula was only 2 years we aborted thinking it was the best option for her. But obviously it did not work because 11 months later Viva come walking towards me in the field, - Hi I wanted to live so here I am!! A beautiful surprise from the unstoppable nature itself.

Viva is our first 100% Vikinga-bred out of Chula VIK and Brillantino VIK.

She is genetically tested and can get the following colours to her offspring; Bay, perla, chestnut, palomino, cremello, grey and perlino.

Thanks everyone sending me messages regards situation in Spain, we are just fine. Working as normal, no socializing but getting stuff done that I tend to put off, today my walk-in closet is arranged and shining, nothing bad that doesn't bring something good as we say in Sweden!

Also I have been talking to the exporters and the department of agriculture and horses are allowed to cross boarders as they are considered freight, normally I issue the TRACES for my clients horses which is the compulsory international travel document but at the moment it is not possible to issue this document, they say it is a matter of a month or so but nothing confirmed.

Artico has been booked so now frozen Tico swimmers are being sent to Sweden!!

At the moment the shipping is open but who knows what will happen in April so please make your bookings asap and let us get it your way so you won't miss your chance to a foal from our stallions!

Ohh so the blogging has been down for a couple of years, we have kept in contact via social medias but I appreciate so much how everyone are sharing their stuff so I thought I was going to return the sharing now that we all are in isolation! Social medias are fine but sometimes I feel its a forceful communication, you get the news flow of peoples stuff either you want it or not whilst with a blog you don't get it in your face unless you choose to open it. So here it is for anyone that cares, basically.

So how are you all doing in this situation? I have been diving into actualizing my web with videos and info of my horses as they only have been shared on social media. Welcome to check it out if you are bored.

www.vikingapre.com

When we are not able to look outwards we get time to look inwards so that's something we can take advantage of now. Personally my daily routine life is not much different, I am used to being creative with my days, work and horses and it doesn't normally include much of socializing anyways. I like the time I have to create my own days. I am waiting for Pica and her 2020 baby and normally my mother is always coming but this year that is not going to be possible which is abit sad and I miss my family. I have so many lovely friends and clients writing me asking how things are, it is really sweet so thanks so much, love and appreciate you all! Today I had a breeder calling me just to check up on me and we discussed the market of horses. He has had problems with informal mediators and how they advertise untrue informations and I told him what my clients has shared with me and the problems they have had before they contacted me. Not acceptable, I urge you to make those problems official if you should have them, we need get together and keep the seriousness and professionalism in this business.

What you do think about the issue of the olympics? My personal opinion is that it should be delayed, it really isn't appropriate now when people don't even have the freedom to train properly and how can we be comfortable to get together for games now?

At the farm we are all well and thriving, I have 10 horses of my own and 2 boarding. And another little one is expected in April! I would love to get another Llamativo but in filly from Pica and then I have all the blood I need for a new generation breeding, which is also the reason why Picara is for sale. She is such a sweet soul and need a kind hand, she is not a cheap broodmare which is the reason why she hasn't been sold, but now she has a very reasonable price as I have several offspring from her and need to renew my blood. She is due in april and is in perfect shape as always, so I am still offering her with one price included the coming foal and another without foal but confirmed in foal for next year. Please see her advert here if you are interesed; http://www.horsespreviktoria.com/1/pic_perla_broodmare_1257475.html
At the moment she is covered in a huge rug to keep her belly warm but here she is in a clean summer picture

Here is her baby LLAMATIVO VIK, he has the blood of 4 of our best horses running through his veins, Picara PM, Novedosa PM, Donoso VII and Fiero VIK. He is such a cool horse, so sweet and classy and for sure has a bright future as a stud/ dressage horse. Here he is 21 months old. I must say I take pride in how all my babies comes out with such correct conformations and perfect angles, you don't see any crooked legs here lol.

Love you and leave you, let's keep talking and stay safe, warm, keep drinking hot beverages and take vitamin C and get that immune system boosted and I would also like to send you the doctors recommendation for our dear virus as I have been given that information from a professional source;

The treatment is zinc 20 mg daily + azitromicine 500mg daily + plaquenil 500mg first day continuing 200mg daily for 10 days.

Ciaoo for now!

So now we are well into the new year how was the start of yours? Ours started with spanish byrocracy as I have spent 1,5 years issuing a new farm-code necessary for economic activity and export which requires a l o t of patience and perserverance! But now it's done and business can develop and continue. We have had cold temperatures with snow but not alot so floor is still dry and nature is hybernating waiting to wake up. Hopefully soon!

Sunset sierra de Guadarrama

Artico has had his first booking from México and we are looking forward to seeing his new crop of 2018 international offspring, first one will be born in Australia! He already had one colt born in Australia, absolutely beautiful. I measured Artico today and he is now 167 cm tall. His physique is compact and his movements are powerful and suspended, and mentally he is now ready for serious dressage work. I will keep you posted on his progress, he deserves competing don't you think!!?

Artico VIK in December 2017

And then for our upcoming Nova-star. Today I lounged him for the first time and literally flies, his normal work trot is like a show trot! I have a feeling 2018 will be Fiero VIK's year. I have measured him today and he is 166cm. I am planning his championship debute this year, he will decide when but I reckon in the summer. This year he is added to Vikinga breedingprogram and he will be available for limited amount of mares. He very well developed for his age and mature mentally so I think I might break him in just for fun and as he needs stimulationH. Fiero is a soft and quiet stallion, I am absolutely in love with his personality and temperament. I am definitely keeping him as he is (another) horse of my heart. But I am selling his 1 year old younger full brother Hidalgo VIK, he's a copy of Fiero and the same incredible temperament. Fiero will also be a daddy in April with Picara and I am very excited about this foal, it has some pretty incredible genetics, decending from the following amazing individuals;

Fiero VIK sire

Picara PM dam

Novedosa PM grandmother

Donoso VII grandfather

And today my Donut nailed 15 clean tempis oiiiiii so proud of him!!!!

I have also been working on our new Horses for sale selection 2018 and I am presenting some on my facebookpage Vikingapre Connected. Of course they are all iberians but most of them PREs in different levels and ages. Here's one black turning 5 now, competing dressage PRE scoring very well in national tests for 4 year olds last year.

Here watching the European championships, such great riding!! Thank You so much everyone for your warm and kind comments and messages, it really does help. It is terrible to loose a horse always but this time it has been alittle bit worse than 'normal', it was a big chock for me. I was away and working with clients so I was not at the farm and this made it even harder. To come back to the farm and not see my girl in the herd was not a nice feeling, she was our leader mare. Nova has been with me since she was 1 years old, she has been a straight forward, smart, a perfect performing broodmare, instant pregnancy always, delivering her foals without complication and breeding them with such excellence. She had never been ill, she was always in perfect shape, vital and strong, simply the best foundation mare and she gave me a 100% breeding experience.  She was fine in the evening and dead in the morning. There were no signs of colic on the ground, she was just dead on the floor, on her side and her body was swollen all over. As she was the leader mare and very protective of everyone I got the idea of a snake bite. Perhaps she defended her herd when a snake came to drink from their water and she got bitten. From what I have understood venomous snakes are not common in our area but there is no guarantee. It's also rare a horse falls down and dies suddenly so to me it makes more sense if the cause was something rare. I have seen snakes on the farm supposedly not venomous, but I am thinking there could be others. There are also some venomous plants in their fields but my horses eat well and are never hungry so why would she pick one of those suddenly after all these years avoiding them. It doesn't make any sense. We will never know but I need to think things over because of the safety of my other horses. Animals has an incredible ability to accept, they have no sentimentality or ego that holds on to their objects, Nova's baby Judith has adapted very well, she has been following Chula and stays close to her sister Viva. I have decided to separate the girls from the mares now as Viva is very big and Chula needs to recover and give up nursing as she is in foal again and so young. So my little girls are becoming independent now, it's great they have each other.

You know me by now I am not the kind that gives up, when I fall down I get up, I get up. I will never get used to loosing a horse but we can't shut down just becuase we are afraid of getting hurt, then we loose our passion and sensitivity for life. I now have 11 other blessings and I count them, not the tragedys. Here are 4 wonderful 4 Nova babies, two of them started breeding with only 2 years of age, Nova's breeding line is strong!
Chula, Fiero, Hidalgo and Judith.

Novedosa was for sale, not becuase I wanted not to have her but becuase she was already a grandmother as her offspring are breeding and I need to sell to refresh bloodlines. I felt proud to offer Novedosa as the perfect broodmare, only the best is for sale. I am now offering Picara PM who has given me 3 excellent offspring, one of them Artico VIK that is our new breedingstallion. To you who are about to create a stud and start/expand your breeding Picara is a great foundationmare, she brings down alot of class and strong racetype to her babies as she is the carthusian type of mare. These days its not easy to find this classical type of broodmare and more so with her genetic composition of doubledilute CrCr genetics. I am selling her with the option of a reduced price if I get to keep her 2018 offspring, and including confirmed in foal with optional stallion, Donoso VII or Fiero VIK for 2018. Or as she comes now confirmed in foal. Here she is right now!

Dear all, I hope you are enjoying the summer as much as you can!?!

I am right now rearranging our breedingprogram and I have decided to sell our broodmares as we now have a line of progeny of the mares including fillies and two new studstallions from all three mares. All three have possibilities to give me perlinos next year so I have no rush as I would be excited to see these foals, I am determined to find the best homes for my girls, they deserve it. All three are top breedingfoundation mares for breeding PRE for dressage with exclusive colourgenetics and they are all three in perfect shape as always and confirmed in foal. I will make a short presentatation of them here, and then you are very welcome to see more info on their respective pages on www.vikingapre.com and contact me for any info!

Hello everyone in the middle of the summer hope you are enjoying the sunshine!!  4 horses in vikingafarm are now in full training and there is no time to be lazy! I have been selecting horses for clients and here are two of PRE both with 100% mind/body quality.

Artico has covered 5 mares in Spain this season and we are very pleased because all of them where confirmed on first insemination! Thanks again to Concha and her professional team, you are the best! Today we got a new booking so he will be back at station so time to book if you want cooled semen for your mare!

So when Start finally had recovered from last year he got laminitis in march,. This was simply alittle too much for me and I lost all inspiration for training towards competition riding I left our 4 year old with a collegue to be broken in, Artico I sent to breedingstation. Then came spring and the foals and redirected my attention that was needed 100% and I focused on work and my clients. But now he has recovered with the help of a expert farrier, treatments and a correct diet and it is such a relief to see him move like normal again! I sat on him today and wow it felt great to be back there I can tell you!!
