Back from christmas holidays, even though I have somewhat disconnected I have been working with various clients. D from USA has now reserved some super exciting PRE youngstock, one of them being Donoso's son Pinturero BAT! That will be D's first offspring exported to this part of the world. Today I have been viewing two horses with T & J from Germany, it was a very nice meeting and even though we have been driving all day. At one point I almost backed over a lamppost and gave my car another scar but I assured them I AM a good driver. T said she prayed for us so I think she was not totally convinced! Despite no spanish meal I think I left them satisfied at the airport, safe and sound, only good horses can make you feel good despite many kilometres and no food!

Now I can't wait until tomorrow because then I will go and see MY horse family and I'm anxious, it has been over a week.. Cheerio til tomorrow!

PINTURERO BAT reserved for USA

After medical visit today I decided to award myself with some swedish sweets that I have a constant have craving for. Arriving to the shop I did not see a sharp curb, hit it hard and exploded my tire.. But luck was on my side and polite police (local, not guardia civil) actually helped my changing my tyre after a 20 min search for tools that were hidden in strange places in my car. But what great good guys! So swedish sweets became a expensive story since I am having swedish version of tyres really great for all climates and for pulling the trailer in crappy weather conditions, of course impossible to find in Spain so needs to be imported from Sweden. It's crap I know, but better with a explosion on a curb than explosion with a horse in the trailer,..

The other day we went to visit Donoso and Halagador babies born in April this year, they were both incredibly tall and very beautiful. Halagador got a filly and her mum brown/black, around 165 cm with 3 white feet and a star. The filly is jet black no white markings, tall and very feminine. She did not get Halagador's beautiful head, her hook angle is alittle bit too wide and her movements are not very powerful but she is a elegant, adorable and a very pretty lady. This breeder sells all male offspring and keeps the females for breeding and riding :)

Donoso's boy is a copy of himself and even though his mum has white legs and star he came out totally bay no white markings. He has powerful movements and a beautiful totally correct conformation. He is closely related to Donita VIK as her mother and the mother to this colt are also halfsisters, both sired by Delegado MAC. This is a incredibly cool guy that rolled himself around in the grass next to our feet, lot's of personality and selfconfidence. A mini-Donoso, one of the two only male D-offsprings and most certainly a future campeón - FOR SALE :)

- Yeguada Windy Hill in Sweden has 1 black filly from 2011

- Yeguada Zorro PRE in Sweden has 2, one grey 2010 filly and one bay 2012 filly

Makes a total of 8 PRE Donoso VII offspring. 

Halagador has 10 offspring.

Summer is wonderful time for everyone and especially for breeders as all new little lives is coming out and new ones are being made. I have always tried to make it as easy as possibly can for the mareowners. But now I have to ask you for some cooperation, breeding is a teamwork and a mutual responsability.

Donoso is breeding in Spain and Scandinavia, i.e Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark. We provided the Swedish National Stud Flyinge Donoso's frozen semen and their service has been impeccable thanks to professional staff, a special thanks to Susanne that could not have done a more efficient and correct job. Donoso's semen holds excellent quality and is guaranteed by Dra Concha Cuetara Gomez. Dña Cuetara is a teacher at the veterinarian faculty in Madrid and has managed Donoso's semen from collection to packing and sending. She manages most of Spains top stud stallions, Fuego etc, and send to breedingstations all over the world. Whilst collecting she told me very few stallions has as high sperm quality as Donoso and Concha has seen most of them. As Donoso is a TRC stallion the semen is also guaranteed by the Veterinarian faculty in Cordoba. 

So on my behalf as a stallionowner I have fullfilled my part of the responsability guranteeing the quality of the semen and making it physically available to Scandinavia. It is up to the mareowner to provide the mare in a good condition to be in foal and this part has also worked out fine. The vets has generally done a good job as most mares inseminated has been confirmed in foal by first insemination. But the managing of Donoso's semen has not been acceptable. I consider this a responsability of the mareowner rather than the veterinarian as the services are contracted by the mareowner. 

- One mare was inseminated and confirmed in foal. She was exposed to stressful circumstances and she reabsorbed the foal. If veterinarian is attentive they can see on the contour outline of fetal bladder is not regular and this indicates that the mare will most likely loose the pregnancy and go into heat again. This happened to this mare and when she was about to get her second insemination the semen was totally distroyed because the vet had not stored it properly. However the veterianian did not communicate this error and so new semen could not be ordered. The mareowner has paid for the veterinarian services and the transport of semen and she has not had a foal. And I have not been compensated for the loss of my dosis. Frozen semen is very practical as it can be used at any time but please make sure you contract a professional veterinarian that is certified to use frozen semen. 

- Most mareowners were sent several dosis. I have had very little communciation of what has happened to the rest of the dosis? Where is it stored? How many dosis was used and are left over? I only know it was not returned as Flyinge has kindly communicated all transport. So I would be very greatful for this information.

Some call it meditating and it is really necessary to get into your inside and bring out with clearness what it is we WANT to do, thinking, willing, feeling all included. I spoke with friend in stables today and we talked about how these days we mainly communicate with others via email, internet, sms. I have a feeling teqnology and modern speedy-life can seriously separate yourself with your inner self, if you know what I mean?

I have two dilemmas on my mind right now.. They could both be seen as oportunities. I have managed to get clear about that I do NOT want to sell Donita, I had to put her out for sale and see my own reaction to arrive to that conclusion. No, what I WANT is for her to be MRS FESTIVO MR! What do you think? Well I think these two will make a very good combination that is worth waiting for! I had decided to bring Donita to Spain but there is also an option to let her stay in Sweden. This has to be decided tomorrow as the transport is otherwise due to pick her up on wednesday or thursday.. Have to sleep on that one, so goodnight!

Yes I am always in the process of trying to figure out the right destiny/destination for horses. Now my mind is on our little lady Donita VIK, Donoso's firstborn. Before the accident with Aniara the plan was set, I had a transport booked for her to us in Madrid. As Aniara needed company I cancelled the trip. My plan is to use her as a breeding mare, she is the perfect little result of our chosen bloodlines YM and Cárdenas and she is the perfect representative for Vikinga PRE. She has the beauty, she has the movements. She is elegant and classy. She will be tall, she is already 150 cm. Her father is Calificado aswell as her grandfather. She is highly intelligent. She bred in the best possible way. She is special and can be a first class mare for both breeding and riding. Now another swedish championship is over and I realize I would very much like to see her in one. When Aniara recovers she will go and live with a new person that wants to ride and take care of her so there is a departure plan for her only stablemate. So I either find Donita a new person or bring her to me Spain, timeframe is 1-2 months.

Start was the one with spear-ears today, the others were having a siesta but Start was begging for actions so he was first out. We went for a ride and checked out the girls, Start has a chestnut lusi girlfriend and she always comes up to the fence to have a chat. Then Donoso, he wanted to stretch out and canter fast so we did that, power and balance. Halagador and Molinete got to play and stretch in Pessoa, it was great to see them enjoy and have fun. All four happy, clean and in shape thanks to groom Jorge, he got a little pressy from NY so he was happy. This coming weekend is the PRE championships in Sweden. I decided to sponsor the championmare this year with a insemination of Donoso, it feels like a nice thing to do as he is now a new TRC stallion. I am so proud of him, it was always my incentive to do what I can to improve the PRE breeding in Sweden and I love to see his offspring. This horse makes me a happy rider, happy breeder and a happy person, I wish everyone to have a horse like this I really do. But my life also has its disappointments, I think we learn from all things and I try to focus on the bright side of life when it is hard. But I would not be honest if I said all is well all the time. Right now I have lost one of my best friends, it is very painful and I really don't want to talk about it. Yesterday my father suddenly lost his memory, he said he felt strange and then he did not remember anything, so I am worried and not feeling good being so far away. But this is life and and there are definitely those who are suffering from worse things, I am aware I have much to be greatful for so I am.

We are going to travel with Festivo to new York!!!! We are actually going to be Big Baby's private strewardesses, get him (and the other horses) on plane, take care of him (and others) on the flight, super exciting!!
  
Many things to arrange and arrange today has been a marathon of ticking of things-to-do-list. Got the news TODAY he is leaving tomorrow, health papers has to be issued in Madrid and then driven to Aranjuez, that will be Javier's job. I got the farrier for my boys today and for Festivo 8 am tomorrow - 8 AM IN SPAIN - not bad hey!?

After a day of; getting car to mecanics, signing for satellite internet, shopping, making 50 phonecalls, going to check out some black horses for a friend that is arriving tomorrow, picking up car, taking out four boys, meeting up with construction agency for house-work, attending emails.... my female mind is now thinking - BETTY - HORSES - HOUSE - and I HAVE NO CLOTHES - then... - HURRICANE status?... In that order..
And here is one of Halagador's handsome offspring! Now some yoga to calm that mind.. More tomorrow, goodnight!
