So the rain has been pouring down and we feel refreshed and rugs are on. I love the seasons even though the summer is my favourite, but the darker colder days are also lovely as you can be cosy with candles and the fireplace. 

Hidalgo has passed 5* prepurchase exam and he was completely clear on xrays. The xray machines are now with such high quality and normally we see some kind of finding being relevant or not, so completely clear xrays are highly unusual. With only 4 years Hidalgo has already been a shoolhorse for students including young children and we will miss our sweet stallion. Proud of the the genes of my babies. Congratulations to his new owner and I wish them both the very best life!!

ANCCE has done a new study and denomination of the genetics and its colours, I enclose the writeup below for your interest. I am having 4 of my horses tested to get them registered with their new denominations, which are in my opinion now much more clear and descriptive. 
Artico VIK (ggEEAaCrprl) was before perlino, now he is buckskin pearl (baya perla). He has been to summerschool for 1month as I had my knee injured, he is developing his talent nicely.

A wide range of terms are used by labs, breeders and others to identify a horse’s coat color. Until now, the genetic analysis that determined Purebred Spanish Horse (PRE) coat colors and the results that appear in the PRE Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE) had always been performed by external laboratories, to then accept these names.

Since the creation of our own PRE Molecular Genetics laboratory (ANCCELAB) in 2019, all of the corresponding techniques were fine-tuned. Work proceeded to analyze the genes that intervene in PRE coat colors. For the benefit of breeders, and greater understanding, the LG PRE ANCCE stud book office has changed certain coat color names; at the same time, these have been adapted to coincide with those used by most international laboratories. 

With this in mind, as of Wednesday, March 11th, 2020, the names used to describe certain coat colors will be as indicated in the table below:

Observations:

• Likewise, the name of the wild type allele in the Pearl marker changes; it goes from “p” to “N” with the allele producing the dilution appearing as “Prl”.
• In those horses with at least one G allele in its Grey marker, independently of the rest of the coat color markers, it will continue to be called GREY.
• The low dash (_) referring to the marker in the genotype indicates that any allele of that marker may be present. For example: in the case of gene A: A_ (the _ could be AA or Aa); __ (could be either AA, Aa or aa) and the same holds true for the rest of the genes. 

The names used for all other genotypes remain the same.

These changes will appear on both the LG PRE ANCCE stud book web site and APP, as well as on all Equine ID documents issued as Wednesday, March 11, 2020.

Equine Identification Document (EID) 

The new results from genetic coat color analysis carried out from now on will be indicated in the Equine Identification Document (EID) using the new coat color names. 

In terms of the results for coat colors carried prior to the date indicated, those horses will maintain the previous names as already indicated on their EID.

Both the ANCCE web site and the LG PRE ANCCE Stud Book App will list the names as indicated below on all new analysis:

• PERLINO (previously PEARL)
• BUCKSKIN PEARL (previously PERLINO)
• PALOMINO PEARL (previously PERLINO)
• SMOKEY PEARL (previously PERLINO)
• CHESTNUT DOUBLE-PEARL (previously ISABELLA)
• BAY DOUBLE-PEARL (previously ISABELLA)
• BLACK DOUBLE-PEARL (previously ISABELLA)

Coat color analysis performed prior to March 11, 2020 will appear as follows:

• PERLINO (NAME USED PRIOR TO MARCH 11, 2020)
• Isabella (NAME USED PRIOR TO MARCH 11, 2020)
• PERLA (currently PERLINO)

Pica is on her 3rd week overdue, today milk has turned white and belly has dropped so she can't be much longer now. I have my mother helping me watching her from Sweden via security camera during the nights (and days) so I can sleep which keeps me rested, she is the best grandmother ever! Tack Mamma

We have nice temps with spring thunderstorms here now, very pretty fields with flowers and the horses are grazing away.

Our sweet 'Judy' is has passed vetting and is sold to Sweden. We will miss our lovely little ferrari lady, her movements are almost unreal, she has hindlegs angles I have never seen in a PRE. She is Artico's first and Novedosa's last offspring so she is a special one for sure, way to go genetics! We look forward to see her develop with her new person. She will be leaving from Sweden end of month together with lusitano mare Saba also sold to Sweden.

Thanks everyone sending me messages regards situation in Spain, we are just fine. Working as normal, no socializing but getting stuff done that I tend to put off, today my walk-in closet is arranged and shining, nothing bad that doesn't bring something good as we say in Sweden!

Also I have been talking to the exporters and the department of agriculture and horses are allowed to cross boarders as they are considered freight, normally I issue the TRACES for my clients horses which is the compulsory international travel document but at the moment it is not possible to issue this document, they say it is a matter of a month or so but nothing confirmed. 

Artico has been booked so now frozen Tico swimmers are being sent to Sweden!! 

At the moment the shipping is open but who knows what will happen in April so please make your bookings asap and let us get it your way so you won't miss your chance to a foal from our stallions!

Hello everyone in the middle of the summer hope you are enjoying the sunshine!!  4 horses in vikingafarm are now in full training and there is no time to be lazy! I have been selecting horses for clients and here are two of PRE both with 100% mind/body quality. 

Artico has covered 5 mares in Spain this season and we are very pleased because all of them where confirmed on first insemination! Thanks again to Concha and her professional team, you are the best! Today we got a new booking so he will be back at station so time to book if you want cooled semen for your mare!

So when Start finally had recovered from last year he got laminitis in march,. This was simply alittle too much for me and I lost all inspiration for training towards competition riding I left our 4 year old with a collegue to be broken in, Artico I sent to breedingstation. Then came spring and the foals and redirected my attention that was needed 100% and I focused on work and my clients. But now he has recovered with the help of a expert farrier, treatments and a correct diet and it is such a relief to see him move like normal again! I sat on him today and wow it felt great to be back there I can tell you!!

We are having stormy hail/snow/rainy days in Madrid right now, tonight all horses are snuggled up inside, ladies got their hair done and Starti is shaved naked and looking his super self again, he gets very hairy,. It was now one year ago he was struggling for his life, I look at him now and he is glowing, born 1999 and no signs of age on that horse, love him and so happy he is still here, life is good! 
Quinto has moved to live with his owner so now it's just us in stables and we are down to 9. Today we had a visit from a owner of two horses that might come and share our home, we have plenty of space so they would be very welcome to come and share. We are all getting back in business training wise, I have had some time off from riding in January and December because of personal reasons, but today in the middle of the worse weather the inspiration was on top and all 3 boys got a good workout between the hailstorms,. Viking-weather I suppose, makes you feel alive when the frosty wind is biting your cheeks :) So now I have made a 2017 training program for Donoso, Start and Tico and I am looking forward to getting back into competition arena with the boys si Dios quiere as they say in Spain,.   

      
   
   

Artico is now being booked of the 2017 season, his semen has been exported successfully to Australia and storage is on its way to USA. I made a breeding page for him where breeders can post offspring and you can follow his progress. He is developing alot and it will be interesting to see what will become of him. Artico VIK has done his debute in the PRE Championships of Segovia. It was an exciting moment for me as a breeder as this is the first time for one of my own bred. Artico did really well, good scores for morfology and 5th placement and he was second in movements, especially happy about the movement score. He behaved really well, I have prepared him myself at home so Tony only 1 day to get him refined but he's a absolute professional and presented him excellent, muchas gracias Ana y Tony sois los mejores!!
It was a proud horse-mami-moment for sure, breeding is not a glam business, it's expensive, alot of work and most of the time it's about mud, dust and trying to keep everyone healthy and alive,.. But the moment you see your baby horse standing there clean, shiny and with all the hairs in the right place it's so worth it and you can hardly take it all in - I MADE THAT ONE!
Artico's scores and placement qualified him to the Word Championships 2016 so he's coming with us to SICAB! I have no expectations but I am for sure going to enjoy this big moment with baby Tico. Time to celebrate we are here, alive, thriving, growing, learning and enjoying life.

Hellllooouuuuuu in the middle of the lovely summer!!! 

I have to admit I have been lazy with the blogging but here comes a short update!
Donoso is back in training so riding him and Starti, Artico is back from his breeding job in Aranjuez so now I am training him aswell as a proper grown-up. We froze him for USA, Mexico, Australia and Europe and he has already had some bookings for 2017, welcome to contact me for info if you want to reserve your breeding with Artico for next year!

Here he is the day we picked him up and arriving home, so proud of my first own bred breeding stallion he is one of a kind! Tico is also very special to me because he really shows that I am his person, he is starting to feel like my third soul-horse,..   

And here is TIno! Still in summer school, now he knows rearing, laterals and some tricks like sitting/lying down! He learns quickly and is very good student according to his teacher, gracias buén trabajo Oscar! 
 

And I want to share this gorgeous golden perlino 3 years old I have sold to a very lucky and ambitious PRE breeder, how about a PRE championship for this one!?!!

Heyy people here we are in the middle of lovely summer, I'm back from a holiday in London, first real one in how many years?,. Lost count! Both my mares are now confirmed in foal, Novedosa with Artico and Picara with Donoso. Artico's mare in France was also confirmed on first try! 'Tico' is still working at breedingstation where they are freezing storage for all of Europe, USA and Australia and will soon be available for worldwide breeding!  

And today another mare in Sweden is also confirmed with Donoso, good job dear breeding colleagues!
